This situation poses a theological challenge for the church in upholding and communicating the Christian faith within a pluralistic and relativistic society. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between postmodern thought and the Christian faith, particularly in addressing the challenge of epistemological relativism to the claim that the Gospel is the absolute truth. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. The analysis is conducted in a descriptive-analytical and critical manner, that is, by outlining the key ideas of postmodernism and evaluating them in the light of the Christian faith. The results of the study indicate that although postmodernism challenges the claim of absolute truth, it also opens opportunities for constructive dialogue for the church to reaffirm the relevance of the Gospel in the context of the contemporary world. Thus, this study contributes to enriching a critical and reflective theological understanding of the Christian faith’s response to postmodern discourse.
Debora Debora, Didit Yuliantono Adi Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/157 Wed, 10 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Nada yang Membebaskan: Struktur Liturgis dan Teologis dalam Panggilan Kidung Musa (Keluaran 15:1-21) https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/165
The Song of Moses in Exodus 15:1–21 is a significant liturgical text that constructs the Exodus experience as the foundation of Israel’s theological identity. This study is motivated by the need to understand how the liturgical structure of this text not only records the event of deliverance but also generates a theological consciousness of calling among God’s people. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the liturgical structure of the Song of Moses and to evaluate its implications for a theology of calling. This study employs a qualitative method with a theological-biblical analytical approach to examine the text’s rhetorical devices, poetic structure, musical performativity, and communal participation. The findings demonstrate that the Song of Moses possesses a clear liturgical structure consisting of: the proclamation of God’s salvation, the narrative of deliverance, the declaration of God’s reign, and the prophetic and communal response expressed through singing and dancing. The theological analysis reveals that God is portrayed as the Divine Warrior who acts in steadfast love, while the people are called to respond through worship, covenant identity, and ethical participation in the mission of liberation. The contribution of this study lies in its affirmation that the Song of Moses should be read as a liturgical-performative text that functions to shape covenant identity and the community’s awareness of divine calling, rather than merely as a historical victory hymn. Consequently, this research enriches the fields of biblical theology and liturgical studies by demonstrating how the memory of deliverance, the structure of worship, and the ethical calling of God’s people are integrally woven together within the Exodus tradition.
Yokibet Henny Kawangung Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/165 Wed, 10 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Hypostatic Union: Analisis Historis dan Teologis Atas Perdebatan Kristologis dan Relevansinya bagi Gereja di Indonesia https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/184
The doctrine of the Hypostatic Union is a central issue in the history of Christological debates within the Christian church. These debates emerged due to various theological views that excessively emphasized either the divinity or the humanity of Christ. This study aims to analyze the historical development of Christological controversies concerning the two natures of Christ and their relevance to the church in Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative method with a historical-theological approach through literature study of theological sources, church council documents, and academic journals. The findings indicate that the Chalcedonian Definition concerning the Hypostatic Union in one person became an essential foundation of church orthodoxy in maintaining the balance between Christ’s divinity and humanity. In the context of the Indonesian church, a comprehensive understanding of Christ’s two natures is crucial in addressing the challenges of pluralism, digital theological simplification, and weak doctrinal understanding among congregations. This study contributes to strengthening theological education and faith formation within the contemporary church.
Abdon Arnolus Amtiran, Remegises Danial Yohanis Pandie Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/184 Wed, 10 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Pendekatan Pastoral Konseling untuk Self-Care: Komitmen Hidup dan Pelayanan berdasarkan 1 Korintus 15:1-11 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/177
Burnout is one of the major challenges faced by Christian ministers and has the potential to diminish the quality of ministry, disrupt physical, emotional, and spiritual health, and weaken one’s commitment to life and ministry. On the other hand, self-care is often viewed as a practice that is at odds with the spirit of sacrifice in ministry. In reality, healthy self-care is necessary to sustain one’s calling to ministry. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the concept of grace in 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 and the commitment to life and ministry, explain the importance of self-care from a pastoral counseling perspective, and formulate pastoral counseling implications for the sustainability of the Christian commitment to life and ministry. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach. Data were obtained from biblical, theological, and pastoral counseling literature, as well as research on burnout and self-care, and were analyzed through an exposition of 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 and thematic analysis. The results of the study indicate that the grace described in 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 serves as a theological foundation that shapes identity, restores the past, sustains the resilience of ministry, and empowers ministers to carry out their calling sustainably. Self-care is understood as a response to God’s grace, which works holistically across spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, and vocational dimensions. Pastoral counseling plays a vital role in integrating grace and self-care through mentoring, supervision, retreats, and psychological and spiritual support. This study concludes that self-care is not a form of selfishness, but rather a responsibility of faith that supports the sustainability of a life of commitment and ministry rooted in God’s grace.
Herlina Indiani Fialay, Sherly Mudak, Erwin Gusti Parubak Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/177 Wed, 10 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Dialektika Kitab Apokaliptik dalam Narasi Perjanjian Baru dan Implikasinya terhadap Relasi Sejarah Agama Kristen https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/183
This study examines the dialectic of apocalyptic narratives in the New Testament and their implications for reconstructing Christian historiography. Apocalyptic narrative is not treated as an isolated eschatological discourse, but as an interpretive framework that interacts with historical narrative. The analysis identifies a dialectical structure between historical and eschatological dimensions that shapes a non-linear and teleological understanding of time. The interpenetration of eschatological elements in the Gospels presents an eschatology that is existential and actual. Symbolism in the Book of Revelation functions as a social critique against hegemonic power while opening possibilities for historical transformation. The apocalyptic perspective constructs history as a process directed toward cosmic restoration. These findings indicate the need for an integrative historiographical approach that accommodates narrative, symbolic, and theological dimensions in understanding Christian history.
Dicky Welly Kansil Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/183 Mon, 15 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Strategi Kontekstualisasi Paulus menurut Kisah Para Rasul bagi Penginjilan di Era Bonus Demografi https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/162
The demographic bonus is a phenomenon experienced by the Indonesian nation where the productive age is increasing, but Indonesia's productive generation is still experiencing many problems and needs the Gospel so that they can experience holistic life renewal in Christ. This research aims to invite the Church, God's Servants, and believers to see Indonesia's demographic bonus as a pending part and carry out evangelism to them using contextualization strategies. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews. These results are then reviewed in detail with theoretical studies to obtain an understanding of God's Servants and Believers. Paul's 3 contextualization strategies according to the stories of the apostles: 1) appreciating culture as a contextualization strategy (Acts 17: 22-23), 2) developing one's potential as a contextualization strategy (Acts 18:1-4), 3) using appropriate language as a contextualization strategy (Acts 22:1-3). The researcher hopes that every church, servant of God, and believer will actively reach out to Indonesia's productive generation by using a contextualization strategy so that Indonesia's productive generation experiences a holistic renewal of life in Christ.
Reagen Petrus Banea, Gunaryo Sudarmanto, Noh Ruku Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/162 Sun, 21 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Transformasi Teologi Bait Suci: Pembentukan Spiritualitas dan Identitas Umat Allah di Era Digital dan Pascamodern https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/154
In religious life, three core components are always present: the worshipping community, the divine object of worship, and the sacred space where worship is carried out. This study explores the function of the Temple in shaping both the spirituality and identity of God’s covenant people, with particular focus on the Israelites who regarded the Temple as the central place of worship to Yahweh. The theological background of this research lies in the Temple’s significance as the locus of divine presence, where Israel experienced God’s assistance, blessing, and peace. Constructed with utmost dedication, the Temple became a source of pride as well as the focal point of Israel’s religious identity. The study aims to investigate the Temple’s dual role: as a meeting place between God and His people, and as the communal center of worship. Methodologically, this research employs qualitative analysis of Old Testament texts, examining the theological meaning of the Jerusalem Temple. Findings indicate that the Temple held a pivotal role in nurturing Israel’s spirituality through sacred encounters with the manifest presence of God, while simultaneously forming collective identity as a covenant community through shared practices of praise, thanksgiving, and offerings. Thus, the Temple is understood not merely as an architectural structure, but as a theological symbol of divine presence that influenced Israel’s religious consciousness and communal ethics. The contribution of this study is to deepen the understanding of how sacred space informs the spiritual life and identity of faith communities within the Judeo-Christian tradition.
sulistiono, Teguh Bowo Sembodo Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/154 Sun, 21 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Oikodomein HKBP dalam Merevitalisasi Misi Eklesiologis Secara Holistik Global bagi Penuntasan Amanat Agung https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/182
This study analyzes the ecclesiology of HKBP in dialogue with the concept of oikodomein as a theological foundation for the vitalization of congregations amid religious pluralism in Indonesia. The research is motivated by the tension between HKBP’s effort to preserve its Christocentric identity and the need to respond constructively to a diverse social context. The method employed is qualitative, using a literature-based approach through the study of relevant theological and ecclesiological sources. This study aims to formulate a contextual and transformative church mission strategy grounded in oikodomein as a dynamic and participatory process of church building. Previous studies have tended to rigidly separate internal congregational strengthening from social-pluralistic relations. This research demonstrates that oikodomein offers an integrative paradigm that combines spiritual formation, congregational participation, interreligious dialogue, and social responsibility without compromising theological integrity. The novelty of this study lies in its dialectical synthesis between internal vitalization and mission orientation based on oikodomein.
Bona Ventro Simatupang Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/182 Thu, 16 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Sintesis Teologi Kovenan dan Doktrin Justifikasi berdasarkan 2 Korintus 5:21: Sebuah Konstruksi Teologis dalam Perspektif Kovenantal https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/186
This paper aims to synthesize covenant theology and the doctrine of justification in the light of 2 Corinthians 5:21. The doctrine of justification emphasizes the justification of believers through faith in Jesus Christ. On the one hand, covenant theology emphasizes the dynamic relationship between God and man throughout the Bible, where it culminates in the person and work of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21 affirms that Jesus is a sinless person. However, God made Jesus the “Lamb of God” to fulfill the promise of salvation in the Old Covenant. Through Jesus' death for human sin, believers are reconciled to God. Believers also obtain God's righteousness that cannot be achieved by human effort. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, the author will synthesize covenant theology and the doctrine of justification using 2 Corinthians 5:21 as the foundation. The author asserts that 2 Corinthians 5:21 provides a solid theological foundation to synthesize covenant theology and justification doctrine. This paper provides a novel approach that incorporates a hermeneutical-covenantal framework to build a doctrinal synthesis. In addition, this paper contributes to offering a synthesis model that strengthens the holistic understanding of soteriology from a hermeneutical and systematic perspective.
Daniel Pesah Purwonugroho Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Arrabona https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.sttarrabona.ac.id/index.php/JUAR/article/view/186 Wed, 29 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700
