Pendekatan Pastoral Konseling untuk Self-Care: Komitmen Hidup dan Pelayanan berdasarkan 1 Korintus 15:1-11

Burnout is one of the major challenges faced by Christian ministers and has the potential to diminish the quality of ministry, disrupt physical, emotional, and spiritual health, and weaken one’s commitment to life and ministry. On the other hand, self-care is often viewed as a practice that is at odds with the spirit of sacrifice in ministry. In reality, healthy self-care is necessary to sustain one’s calling to ministry. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the concept of grace in 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 and the commitment to life and ministry, explain the importance of self-care from a pastoral counseling perspective, and formulate pastoral counseling implications for the sustainability of the Christian commitment to life and ministry. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach. Data were obtained from biblical, theological, and pastoral counseling literature, as well as research on burnout and self-care, and were analyzed through an exposition of 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 and thematic analysis. The results of the study indicate that the grace described in 1 Corinthians 15:1–11 serves as a theological foundation that shapes identity, restores the past, sustains the resilience of ministry, and empowers ministers to carry out their calling sustainably. Self-care is understood as a response to God’s grace, which works holistically across spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, and vocational dimensions. Pastoral counseling plays a vital role in integrating grace and self-care through mentoring, supervision, retreats, and psychological and spiritual support. This study concludes that self-care is not a form of selfishness, but rather a responsibility of faith that supports the sustainability of a life of commitment and ministry rooted in God’s grace.
