Tantangan Posmodernisme Dan Relativisme Terhadap Kebenaran Injil: Sebuah Tinjauan Teologi Dan Filsafat Kristen

Abstract

This study is motivated by the rise of epistemological relativism in postmodern thought, which rejects claims to universal truth, including the claim that the Gospel is absolute truth. This situation poses a theological challenge for the church in upholding and communicating the Christian faith within a pluralistic and relativistic society. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between postmodern thought and the Christian faith, particularly in addressing the challenge of epistemological relativism to the claim that the Gospel is the absolute truth. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. The analysis is conducted in a descriptive-analytical and critical manner, that is, by outlining the key ideas of postmodernism and evaluating them in the light of the Christian faith. The results of the study indicate that although postmodernism challenges the claim of absolute truth, it also opens opportunities for constructive dialogue for the church to reaffirm the relevance of the Gospel in the context of the contemporary world. Thus, this study contributes to enriching a critical and reflective theological understanding of the Christian faith’s response to postmodern discourse.
